Wycliffe Prep – New Summer STEM Club Shows Success!

05 Jul 2018

This year a STEM club was started in the summer term aimed at those pupils who love problem solving and building things.

A special emphasis was placed on getting pupils past the preconceived notion that this is a boys activity and lots of girls signed up.

Pupils were tasked with various activities including building a cardboard marble run, a gear driven Lego buggy and the our most challenging task – to build a working cardboard house! As part of this activity pupils from Year 5 upwards had to build a parallel circuits for the lights, a ceiling fan and working doorbell. The content was well beyond what pupils from Year 5-6 would be doing in electricity normally, but also required resilience by the bucket load, especially when your entire roof and porch falls off part way through!

Overall this was a great success and we had some outstanding entries. The children were tremendously proud of their work!
