Wrekin College – She Means Business

13 Jul 2017

From 10am-1pm on 28 June, Wrekin Business School hosted an amazing event in collaboration with Enterprise Nation.

Small business community Enterprise Nation offered business advice, inspiration and networking to dozens of female entrpreneurs  as part of the She Means Business campaign with Facebook.

Delegates brought questions and heard other start-up stories, advice on how to grow and monetise their social media presence and made valuable contacts with like-minded people.

This event was part of the She Means Business campaign, an initiative to up-skill 10,000 women in business. Enterprise Nation and Facebook are running a series of nationwide events to inspire creativity, empower confidence and educate on how to best utilise Facebook and Instagram to grow business.

Andy Hurd, Director of the Wrekin College Business School, said they were delighted the facility had been chosen to host the event. “When we first talked about building a business school it was always the aim for it to bring the school and business communities closer together and for pupils to see it actively used by industry leaders for a variety of uses and not just for studies,” he added. “It is wonderful to see it open its doors to business women from across the region as part of a national campaign aimed at supporting female entrepreneurs. “I am sure in doing so it will also inspire our pupils, particularly the girls, to make more of those links outside the classroom and to feel more at ease as they prepare for the world of work.”

Speakers included:

Alison Battisby founded Avocado Social, having worked in the social media marketing industry since 2008. Alison is a Facebook She Means Business certified trainer and has been involved in some groundbreaking social media projects for brands including Nokia, Tesco and Pringles as well as a range of UK start-ups and growing enterprises.
