Wrekin College – CRY SCREENING – AN IMPORTANT DAY

13 Jul 2017

On 17 and 18 June we were delighted to host Cardiac Risk in the Young – CRY – this is such an important cause and one we will help at any opportunity – CRY for Matthew are raising funds to screen young people in Cheshire and Shropshire for heart defects, especially those that are participating in competitive sport.

Sue Dewhirst said:

‘Many thanks to everyone at Wrekin College for making Cardiac Risk in the Young – CRY so welcome over the weekend.

IN TOTAL, WE WERE ABLE TO SCREEN 193 YOUNG HEARTS

‘Parents supplied a lovely spread of cakes. Total donations amounted to £806.54, which is sufficient to screen another 16 hearts.

‘This weekend’s screening was funded by the Lady Forrester fund and next year they have given £1500 towards the screening dates in May, so we still need to find over £5000 from fundraising for this to happen.

‘Many parents asked for information about future dates and they can register to be told when there is screening coming to their area by visiting: http://c-r-y.us9.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=bb9eea4e8db4652e04e295506&id=007655e445

‘Many thanks again for all of your help and enthusiasm for what we are trying to achieve.’

We look forward to welcoming Sue and CRY back in 2018. In 2012 Sue’s son Matthew Dewhirst died from an undiagnosed heart defect, to learn more about her work with CRY, please visit www.cry-for-matthew.org.uk
