Worcestershire warm up for T20 Blast at local school

The Worcestershire T20 squad, plus coaches Steve Rhodes, Matt Mason and Norman Gifford are using the facilities at RGS Worcester as part of their warm-up to the start of the new T20 season.
“This is an ideal place for us to practise in preparation for the T20 Blast,” said Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes. “There’s plenty of space, which we need because we’re practising key 20-20 skills. Some of that incorporates hitting the ball hard and the facilities at RGS are superb. To have the space is brilliant and we thank the Grammar School very much.”
Whilst Moeen Ali, Daryl Mitchell and Alexei Kervezee were put through some athletic fielding practice, Saeed Ajmal and Jack Shantry were among the bowlers using the main square at the ground, located at Flagge Meadow.
RGS Worcester cricket captain Dan Goodyear, fresh from the school’s own T20 victory against Leicester Grammar School at the weekend, was on hand to enjoy the training session. “It was fantastic to see the team on our ground. The intensity of the session was incredible, with everything done to such a high standard. The fielding was electric and some of the hitting enormous. To see an international bowler of Saeed Anwar’s reputation bowling close up was a moment to remember.”
