Winterfold School Achieve Their Best Ever Music Exam Results

08 Jun 2018

Pictured is a group of elated musicians from Winterfold School, Chaddesley Corbett following the biggest and best set of music exam results ever achieved by the School.

A total of forty-three children took ABRSM music exams this term, ranging from grades one to five. Between them, the children achieved eighteen merits and fifteen distinctions. One pupil gained 140/150 for one of his three distinctions. Even more impressive is the range of orchestral instruments in which the grades were sat; tubas, cello, trombone and horn to name but a few. To have such results at a totally non selective school is truly amazing and credit to the children’s incredible hard work and the excellent teaching on offer by the team of some fifteen instrumental teachers.

These pupils go on to hugely contribute to Music in the School which has a National award winning jazz band and choir, full orchestra, countless training bands and six choirs, who perform a programme of some thirty concerts a year.

A selection of Winterfold musicians now attend the London music colleges and work in the profession.

Music at the School is completely inclusive and all children take part in the large summer concert every year.
