Winterfold House School Take Trip Round Tamworth Castle

30 Nov 2018

Intrepid historians from Winterfold School, Chaddesley Corbett visited Tamworth Castle recently to bring their history lesson to life and learn about homes of the past, castles and 1066.

After a tour of the grounds, dungeons and arrow slits, the pupils looked at rooms of different styles through the ages and had a workshop on how to become a servant. It was fun to set up the Dining Room for the lord and lady of the castle, learn how to bow and curtsy and look at what items a rich person would have had on their table. A few children then tried on the clothes of the day. The boys were horrified to find out that they would have had to wear dresses in medieval times.

In the afternoon, the children went to Knight School, where they had the opportunity to look at armour and weapons.

It was a great trip, which brought medieval times and the children’s topic to life.
