Wellington School Pupil Selected as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet

13 Nov 2018

Wellington School pupil Frank Zhang has been selected to be one of the Lord Lieutenant Cadets for Somerset this year. This prestigious award is given to six top cadets from all branches of the cadet world in Somerset, and Frank will be supporting the current Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Anne Maw.

Frank is the CCF Cadet, through his involvement in the Army cadets at Wellington School.

The award ceremony for this appointment, was held at The Bishop’s Palace in Wells and Frank will be called on over the course of the coming year to assist the Lord-Lieutenant as required – often on parade for Royal visits – and act as ambassador for their organisations and the young people of Somerset.  When on duty, Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets wear a distinctive sash with the badge of their appointment to denote their role.

The Cadets are chosen on their merits within the cadet force and also for their dedication and work within the local community.

Wellington has provided Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets over many consecutive years and Headmaster Henry Price commented, “I am absolutely delighted for Frank.  It is a great honour for him and a reflection of the highly regarded stature of our CCF. Frank contributes enormously not only to our Combined Cadet Force but also to many other areas of school life.”
