Wellington School Pupil is England Athletics Champ

08 Oct 2017

A Wellington School Sixth Former will represent England in a variety of athletics disciplines.

Jack Turner in Year 12 won the English Schools Combined Events Championships in Boston, Lincolnshire.

He now holds the title of the U17 2017 Combined Events Champion as well as being ranked 2nd in the UK for U17 Octathlon, with an overall points score of 5207.

Jack is now on the England team and will take part in his first international competition at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on the 19th November.

Jack competed in 8 events over 2 days in harsh, cold conditions with rain and fog to contend with. The standard of the competition was very high with 1 Commonwealth Youth Champion and 1 World Youth Champion to contend with. Jack pulled out all the stops and despite still carrying a fractured bone from a knee injury back in April, he managed to complete all his events to a high standard.

Fabulous performance Jack, well done!
