Wellington College duo win prestigious US Golf Scholarship
03 Mar 2015
Two Wellington College Sixth-formers have been awarded prestigious scholarships to top US Universities.
Ryan Lumsden and Edoardo Lipparelli have good reason to celebrate this Christmas as they have been awarded Golf Scholarships at Northwestern Univeristy and the University of Illinois. From August 2015, Ryan will be under the coaching of Pat Goss and David Inglis at Northwestern University, following in the footsteps of former World Number One, Luke Donald. Edoardo will be just a couple of hours away from Northwestern at the University of Illinois, where the Head Coach is Mike Small. Goss and Small are regarded worldwide as two of the finest University coaches, and are both excited to have such exceptional student athletes joining them. Since these powerhouses of US College golf go head-to-head in tournament play, Edoardo and Ryan will compete against each other in the years to come.
Wellington College’s combination of academic excellence and exceptional golf coaching fits perfectly with the philosophy at both Northwestern and Illinois. These universities recruit the pick of academically able, exceptional junior golfers from all over the world, so it is a quite exceptional achievement for these two young Wellingtonians.
Wellington College has been ranked the number one golf school in the UK for four of the past six years, in that time winning the Independent Schools Championships twice, the HMC Foursomes once, the Schools Cup five times, and the Schools Invitational five times. Ryan and Edoardo’s achievements continue this rich vein of success.
Wellington College has pioneered the 8 Aptitudes approach to education, and is committed to developing the multiple intelligences which all students possess. Edoardo and Ryan are fine examples of that vision, and we congratulate them and wish them well. – See more at: http://www.wellingtoncollege.org.uk/media/news/article/2151/College-duo-win-prestigious-US-Golf-Scholarships/#sthash.zOxNEuMb.dpuf
