Welcome back to all children for last week of Summer Term
09 Jul 2020
Wellington Prep School is to open its doors to children in all year groups, from Nursery to Year 6, before the end of the summer term.
On Monday 1 June the Prep School re-opened to children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, using the detailed Coronavirus guidance from the Department for Education. Following careful risk assessments, new arrangements were introduced, including maximum group sizes of 15 children, different entrances for different year groups, one way systems, staggered pick-up and drop-off time and hand sanitisers stationed throughout buildings. There is also a great deal of emphasis on social-distancing and learning outdoors.
On Monday 22 June, Years 2 and 3 are returning and they will be joined by Years 4 and 5 on Wednesday 24 June, at which point the Prep School will have re-opened to all its families.
The School has also adopted the Covid-Safe Charter, which is a commitment to go beyond statutory requirements as a way of ensuring that school site is safe for pupils to return.
Wellington Prep School Headmaster, Adam Gibson, said “While the look of the School is different – and rightly so – our children are delighted to be back. The return of the first year groups at the beginning of June saw over 95% of eligible children return to school, so I am really pleased that we are able to bring the rest of the School safely back, as well. We are even planning a socially-distanced Sports Day – possibly a national first!”
In line with government guidelines Wellington School also reopened for Year 12 and Year 10 pupils from Monday 15th June to provide vital opportunities for students to take part in some face to face learning and activities on site and is planning for pupils in Years 7 to 9 to return for activity mornings over the next two weeks.
