Viking Day at Bishop Stortford College Junior School
11 Mar 2013
Lower Shell enjoyed a fantastic Viking Day! Lead by “History off the Page” the children, all dressed as Vikings, immersed themselves in village life. They made Thor’s hammer amulets, beeswax candles, medicines for a range of ailments, charcoal ink and a whole host of other craft creations.
Meanwhile, regular news about the threat from Alfred’s Saxon army was received, so they had to prepare for battle!
Added to all this activity, the seven and eight year olds did some archaeological work and explored dig boxes.
“It has been fantastically rich and varied day bringing the history of the Vikings to life,” said, Head of Lower Shell, Kirsty Brooks
