University offer success at Abbey Gate College
26 Mar 2013
Congratulations must go to all the students and staff who are involved in the university applications process this year. Every student has received an offer in this ever competitive market and of all 144 applications, where universities have so far responded, 90% have been successful. Indeed 69% of all students have received offers from every course they have applied for.
Students can apply for 5 courses at different institutions and the final submission of the UCAS form is the culmination of over 3 years of advice and guidance from the dedicated team of staff at the College. The pupils begin considering their GCSE, A level, University and career options in Year 9 and activities such as the Leadership Course in Year 10, A level Taster Day and the Sixth Form Residential visit to Glara Mara in the Lake District, combine with the day to day support that the pupils receive to enable them to fulfil their dreams and ambitions. Peer Mentoring schemes, Young Enterprise and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, to name but a few, also combine to provide Abbey Gate students with the skills required to succeed in life beyond the College. It is true to say that for those staff who write student references, the hardest thing is to keep within the word limit as there are always so many positive things on which to comment.
Students this year have once again opted to study a wide range of courses at universities the length and breadth of the country and as always the College continues to provide support for those who undertook a Gap Year and have applied to begin their studies this year.
Whether it is an application for a university place, Gap Year project or position of employment, the College would like to thank all the staff who have contributed to make this process a success once again.
