Copthorne Prep U9A Rounders v Cottesmore – Won 20½-11½
06 Jun 2013
Well what a super way to start off the half term, on a glorious day! Josie captained the side and despite most of the girls feeling tired due to the fantastic sleep over they had at boarding, they put this aside and really put everything into the match!
The U9s went into bat first today so they knew they had to go out and bat hard to put themselves ahead, and this they did, with 8½ rounders being scored in the first innings, with full rounders scored from Charlotte, Ella D and Neve and some great halves from Katie, Ella C and Rosie! This enthusiasm was carried over into the fielding and I must say this is the best I have seen the U9s field yet! With 3 great catches, 2 from Charlotte and 1 from Ella D, and some super quick thinking from the rest of the team resulting in Ella C stumping out two players at second post as well as Ella D, and then Neve stumping out another at fourth post.
A great first innings for the U9s!
However they did not stop there and came back even stronger in the second innings, especially with their batting scoring another 12 rounders; with full rounders from Charlotte, Ella D and Katie and halves from Amelia, Katie, Neve, Josie, Rosie and Kushi. The U9s then went into field for the second time and although Cottesmore picked up their game they continued their fantastic teamwork and play, resulting in them taking another 3 super catches from Amelia, Katie and Charlotte and Ella C also stumping out another player at second post! The final score after the last innings today was 20½ to Copthorne and 11½ to Cottesmore, so again Copthorne were indeed the worthy winners!
A tremendous effort from all of the U9s today throughout the match, you were all stars and my players of the match, and it is lovely to see your progression each week, lets keep this up girls!
Well done to you all, and to Charlotte who was Cottesmore’s player of the match!
Charlotte 4½, Ella D 3, Katie 3, Neve 2½, Rosie 2, Amelia 1½, Khushi 1½, Josie 1, Ella C ½, Katherine R ½, and Katherine M.
