Two Prior Park Students In Final Five of Bath Young Musician Competition
11 Oct 2013
Two Prior Park College students, Harriet Garner (Year 13) and Lizzie Daniels (Year 11) have been selected as two of the five finalists in the Bath Young Musician Competition, to be held on 6 November 2013.
Each place at the final of this eminent music competition is highly sought-after and the girls have had to put in some tremendous performances to earn their places. This year’s competition is to be held in the Pump Rooms, a show-stopping backdrop to a hugely prestigious regional competition. The finalists were all selected following their performances at the Mid Somerset Festival in March, and will be competing on the day in front of three adjudicators for the Festival’s trophy and a cheque from the Festival’s organisers.
On the night Harriet Garner will be singing soprano, having enjoyed great success in her singing recently with a Distinction in her Advanced Diploma. Meanwhile, Lizzie Daniels, an outstanding violinist, has already performed at various high-profile events as a member of the National Youth Orchestra, including at Buckingham Palace and The Royal Albert Hall.
Headmaster, James Murphy O’Connor, is very proud of Harriet and Lizzie: “Prior Park’s reputation in music is well lauded, and to have two of the five finalists in this exciting competition certainly supports that reputation. Harriet and Lizzie will be well-supported by a large number of our community on the night and I wish them both the very best of luck.”
