More than 1,000 members of the Trinity School community celebrated the end of another school year at the Trinity Proms last Saturday 4th July.

Governors, parents, staff, pupils, friends and neighbours picnicked whilst listening to talented musicians including Trinity’s Big Band, Close Harmony Group, the Old Palace steel band and London West End stars Marc Eliot, Rosanna Hyland, Deryn Edwards and Mark Meadows who gave a rousing tribute to the Great American Musical in honour of Independence Day.

They commented afterwards: “It was a pleasure to take part in such an amazing event – the range and standard of music making by all the young performers were quite extraordinary.”

In a moving presentation, the fabulous sum of £11,000 raised by the Trinity Parents’ Association in 2014-15 was donated to St Christopher’s Hospice, Book Aid International and The Alzheimer’s Society.

Trinity Headmaster Mark Bishop said: “Trinity Parents’ Association has put on another superb evening of entertainment bringing together the whole Trinity community. It has become an absolute highlight of the school year and I am immensely grateful for their hard work and for all our parents’ generosity towards the charities.”

The Proms ended with a fantastic fireworks finale fired to the sound of the Dam Busters March followed by guests and performers joining together to sing the American and British national anthems. One Trinity student summed up the feelings of many in the following words: “A fantastic evening with such a great atmosphere – I’m already looking forward to next year!”
