Trinity A Level student ranked 5th fastest woman in UK now achieves Olympic qualifying standard

Trinity sixth form pupil Imani Lansiquot is one step closer to Olympic selection. The eighteen year old recorded a new Personal Best (PB) of 11.28 seconds for the 100m after coming first at the Active Newham Open Series, making her currently the fifth fastest woman in the UK and the fourth fastest junior in the world. However, more significantly it also means that she has now achieved the Olympic qualifying standard, a goal she has had her sights set on for some time.

Imani commented: “I’m always inspired to work harder and set no limits to what I can achieve. It’s my dream to be picked for the Rio Olympics relay team.”

Imani has successfully combined her academic studies at Trinity School (Croydon), where she is currently talking her A Level exams, and her athletics. She trains with an Olympic standard group at Lee Valley and has proved she is one to watch in the future. She featured on Sky Sports last summer, reaching the final in the 100m individual European Junior Championships held in Sweden, where she came fifth in Europe. Imani also ran the anchor leg for the 4x 100m Great Britain Junior relay team that finished in first place, taking home a gold medal.
