The future’s bright for GCSE students at The King’s School Gloucester

Year 11 students at The King’s School in Gloucester are today celebrating superb GCSE results. The school is also opening a stunning new Sixth Form Centre next term, after a £2.5 million re-development project, so the future is truly looking bright for these talented students. These results follow the outstanding A Level grades achieved by the Year 13 students last week.
32% of GCSE results were top grades of A*/9/8: the best the school has ever achieved.
Half of all the GCSEs resulted in grades of A*/A or 9-7.
With 98% A*-C (9-4) grades, the impressive academic attainment was contributed to by every student in the year group.
The Headmaster, Mr David Morton, commented, “After such a challenging year for our Year 11 students due to the pandemic and the swirling uncertainty of the last few days, I am absolutely delighted to see that our students have been awarded the excellent results that they deserve. King’s has always welcomed pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and academic abilities; these GCSE results show what super progress our students can make with hard work, ambition, resilience and high standards of teaching.”
A number of individual students achieved exceptional results. Gaining entirely 9/8 or A* grades were Constance Bird, Max Everett, Elizabeth Frall, Caius Gordon-Bruno, Joan John and Scarlet Page.
With results all at grade 7/A and above were Lydia Ashford, Emma-Jane Austin, Joshua Castledine, Ruby Daws, Tia McBain, Riley Mizkurka-Morrison, Isabelle Warner and Samantha Wilkins.
King’s has a reputation for producing strong all-rounders who work hard outside of the classroom as well as inside it. Amongst the students celebrating great results at the school are a former Head Chorister at Gloucester Cathedral, a power-lifting world champion, several great equestrian riders, first class sports men and women, superb artists, a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and many more.
As the uncertainty around GCSE and iGCSE results dies down for all of these talented students, they can now look forward to a bright future at King’s, studying a wide range of further education possibilities. The breadth of choice in King’s Sixth Form includes 24 A Levels, BTEC Sport, the Extended Project Qualification, Certificate of Financial Studies and Higher Sports Leadership Award, as well as the school’s bespoke Future Skills Programme.
