The farm comes to Feltonfleet
12 Apr 2017
Our Pre-Prep recently enjoyed a visit from Miller’s Mobile Ark.
The torrential downpour didn’t dampen spirits as each class donned their best farming gear – wellies and raincoats – to spend an hour learning about the animals. Pupils were able to access the pen with the animals to enable them to get a really close look and feel their fur – it’s not every day you get the opportunity to tickle a pig’s tummy! Petunia was very accommodating, as were all the animals who are specifically chosen for their calm temperament and accustomedness to small children. Lucy, who was running the farm for the day, answered the children’s questions about the care of the animals, and what they ate, as well as sharing some stories about their characters.
As well as Petunia the pig, who gave a cute oink every time her ears were stroked or tummy tickled, other favourites were the 3 little baby triplet goats, Butter, Caramel and Scotch, and Tom the lamb.
Mrs Sarah Shuttleworth, Head of Lower School said, “It is really great that the children can have the opportunity to get so close to the animals rather than seeing them standing in a field. The highlight for me was seeing the smiles on the faces of the children- absolute delight!”
