Talented Young Musicians Invited To Perform At LVS Ascot Music Festival
21 Jan 2016
Young musicians will be descending on LVS Ascot on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th February for its 2nd annual Music Festival, and under 18s with talent across a full range of instruments are being urged to take to the stage at the celebration of youth music in Berkshire.
The leading independent, all-ability school is bidding to expand on the great success of its inaugural Music Festival from last year, which saw almost 100 young musicians from Berkshire and beyond perform on the LVS Ascot stage in front of a packed auditorium. With a 300-seat staged theatre to host the performances along with other facilities available including a recording studio and recital room, budding young performers will have the opportunity to take advantage of the school’s quality music provision and enhance their skills.
Solo categories include vocal, piano, strings, woodwind and brass, with additional ensemble and choir categories allowing the school to demonstrate its ethos of inspiring individual success but also encouraging integration and teamwork. As LVS Ascot seeks to draw on pupils’ strengths to allow them to excel at their personal talents, this year more contemporary jazz and rock/pop band categories have been added to ensure an eclectic mix of talent will be celebrated over what is sure to be a highlight of the Berkshire musical calendar.
LVS Ascot Music Festival Organiser and Teacher of Music James Bryant said: “We have developed the festival this year to a broader range of classes to reflect the huge range of talent that young musicians in the area have. As an all-ability school with no entrance exam, we are also going to express that ethos via ‘Performers’ Platforms’ with a selection of non-competitive classes to allow performers the opportunity to play without the pressure of competition. For beginner and junior pianists these will be run on a friendly and informal basis in small classes”.
