Stonyhurst College – An evening with Boris Johnson

16 Nov 2015

Members of the Politics Society enjoyed an evening with none other than Boris Johnson MP, this week.

Mr David Ridout accompanied William Lamb, Kitty Riley, Edward Belderbos, Colm Fahy and Tom Everatt to a dinner in Wrea Green, Lancashire, at which Boris Johnson was the guest of honour. During the evening, they were fortunate to be able to meet Boris several times; the ebullient MP (who lived up to their expectations!) readily signed copies of his book on Churchill and chatted about many things, including Stonyhurst’s rugby victory versus Ampleforth!

William Lamb said: “We all enjoyed Mr Johnson’s speech, in which he spoke at great length about bendy buses! He also said that London is “the greatest city, in every single category, in the entire world”! It was an extremely memorable event and a real coup for the Stonyhurst Politics Society to be able to meet him. He was a very personable and charismatic character, and generous with his time in talking to us.”

Also present was Charlotte Leach OS, a former member of the Politics Society and one of the youngest female councillors in the UK.
