STEAM INTERACTIVE 2021 – Leighton Park School
17 Feb 2021
With National Science Week on the horizon Leighton Park is gearing up for an exciting week of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) interactive workshops for children in Year 5 at local primary and prep schools across Berkshire.
Many people are familiar with the concept of STEM and the importance of the sciences in teaching technical capability and problem-solving skills but introducing the Arts as a critical component gives the suite of subjects the advantage of creative thinking and imagination. The STEAM Interactive 2021 programme is a virtual event launched as a natural progression during lockdown to the Big Bang Interactive event which has been offered to 300 children by Leighton Park every Spring since 2017.
We are looking forward to welcoming children in Year 5 online between Monday 8th and Friday 12th March for hands-on activities including building a 3D pop up stage set with a geodesic dome canopy, communicating like a computer using morse code and ascii, discovering how the heart works through physical exercise, statistical analysis and witnessing a real heart dissection. In addition, there will be a keynote introduction offering overview of technology in the future and a selection of biographical stories from STEAM industry professionals to round off the week.
The full programme provides a comprehensive overview of the event and anyone keen to take part should contact BeInspired@leightonpark.com.
