Staines Prep Pupil Scoops Major Win!
07 Aug 2012
Grace Dowdeswell from Staines Prep has won a prestigious nationwide competition run by Raleigh Bikes and high-street retailer Argos, to design the creative artwork for a brand new bicycle.
The contemporary, slick design was centred on a skeleton theme using grey and black monotone colours with a splash of orange. The bikes on sale in Argos are impressively named the ‘Biskull’ whereas the bespoke bike given to Grace also features Grace’s name on it.
As the unanimously chosen winner from entrants throughout Britain, Grace visited the Raleigh UK headquarters in Nottingham on Friday 29 June where her Biskull was officially unveiled. She was then presented with a special bespoke Raleigh bicycle featuring her own design and name.
Raleigh’s Jayne Bakes, kid’s bike product manager, said: “Grace’s skeleton-themed ‘Biskull’ received a unanimous thumbs up from the Raleigh judging panel. With her clear illustrations and imaginative design we are confident that the bike will sell well in the kid’s bike market this Christmas.”
The Biskull will be sold in Argos stores from September and will be featured in the Argos Christmas gift guide.
