14 St Swithun’s girls played in the joint Hampshire and Oxfordshire U15 county lacrosse team at the annual South West Regional Tournament at Westonbirt School in Gloucestershire on Saturday 9th November. Although the team consists of girls from schools across Hampshire and Oxfordshire this year it was dominated by St Swithun’s pupils.

The U15A team started the day strongly with a win over local rivals Berkshire. They then defeated Monmouthshire and a joint Gloucestershire & Worcestershire team. Their final game saw a 7-2 victory against a strong Wiltshire & Dorset team resulting in their being crowned champions.

St Swithun’s U15 players were Georgina Witter from Alton, Abbie Baker from Winchester, Emily Wilson and Sophie Cole from Romsey, Natalia Smithers from Tadley, Coco Vulliamy Taylor from Bordon, Molly McKenna from Basingstoke, Emma Bhatti from Lichfield, Lucy Jonas, Louisa Tice and Georgina Baylis all from Southampton, Allegra Whittome from Alresford, Lizzie Umbers from Chandlers Ford and Sophie Bennett from Switzerland.

The U19A team finished 2nd overall with their only loss of the day against tournament winners Berkshire.  They had wins against Wiltshire and Dorset.  This was Hampshire’s best result in this tournament in the last 5 years.  Players from St Swithun’s representing the county included Emily Sambrook Smith from Winchester as team captain, Nuala Morris from Southampton, Sally Goodhand from Alresford, Alice and Hannah Hobhouse, Jess Baker and Ellie Powell from Winchester, Olivia Thorneycroft from London, Georgia Sugden from Hook and Tink Manton-Jones from Camberley.
