St Swithun’s Junior success at biathlon

Last week four girls from St Swithun’s Junior School, Years 5 and 6, who had previously qualified, travelled to the University of Bath for the Schools’ Biathlon Championship semi-final. The competition was extremely tough and involved swimming 50 metres and running 500 metres against the fastest 60 girls from the South and South West of England. Alla Garside (Year 6) from Winchester finished in 6th place overall and has qualified for the British Championships to be held at Crystal Palace in March. The Year 6 team (Alla, Emily Coulson and Natasha Smailes) was placed 6th and Alice Calder (Y5) also competed extremely well.
