PUPILS CELEBRATE A LEVEL RESULTS – Cheltenham Ladies’ College

13 Aug 2020

Sixth Form pupils at Cheltenham Ladies’ College are celebrating outstanding A Level results today, despite the unprecedented circumstances imposed by the current pandemic.

With A* grades making up nearly a third of results (30.8%) at CLC, this year’s individual successes include nine pupils who have achieved straight A* grades in all four of their A Level courses. Across the entire cohort, more than two-thirds of results (67.9%) are A* / A grades.

Along with a number of International Baccalaureate students, who received their results in July, today’s grades have seen a further nine A Level pupils secure places at Oxford and Cambridge, as well as many others set to begin their studies at top UK universities such as Imperial, Bristol, KCL, and Edinburgh.

Pupils have also secured places at a number of top US Colleges, including Princeton, Stanford, Columbia, NYU, Pennsylvania, and New England Conservatory.

The CLC Class of 2020 will go on to study a wide range of courses from Aeronautical Engineering, and Geography, to Mathematics, Costume Design and Music.

Eve Jardine-Young, Principal of Cheltenham Ladies’ College, said: “I am delighted to see how maturely and courageously our pupils have responded to the complex and untested new system of assessment, which has been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Schools across the country, CLC included, now face the task of assisting a number of pupils who have had specific grades negatively impacted. However, despite the circumstances, I am incredibly proud of all the girls and staff whose perseverance, adaptability and hard work throughout the year has led to such excellent A Level results.”
