Prior Park Rugby Star Awarded Rugby Player of the Year Award
28 Nov 2013
Kieran Kelly, a Year 12 student at Prior Park College, won the prestigious title of Rugby Player (18 and under) of the Year at the Bath Sports Awards, held at the Bath Racecourse.
Kieran is a Sports Scholar at the College, and he has been recognised for his impressive skills on the field from a young age; however, his play has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years. As well as playing rugby for the College, Kieran has been a member of Bath Rugby’s Elite Player Development Group for a number of years, captaining the team through several matches and being a well-respected member of the team. On top of these appearances, Kieran has also trained and toured with the England A side, also known as the England South Team. At the beginning of this year, Kieran captained the team during the International Festival, held at Wellington College, facing other national sides including France, Canada, Scotland and Wales.
Headmaster, James Murphy-O’Connor is delighted at the recognition for Kieran: “This is thoroughly deserved for such a committed and talented player. Kieran continues to admirably juggle his Sixth Form studies with the demands of his rugby, and we support him at the College to do this. He embodies the traits of a champion and I have no doubt that he will continue to impress on the national stage.”
