Prior Park Musicians Take The Rondo by Storm
19 Mar 2014
Nine leading music students at Prior Park College recently had the exciting opportunity to perform at the school’s annual concert, held at the Rondo Theatre, Bath.
On Wednesday 26 February, nine musicians from Prior Park College gave the ever-popular annual College recital at the Rondo Theatre, compèred and accompanied as always by Director of Music, Roland Robertson. Soloists from age 13 – 18 gave impressive performances of a huge range of music, from Mozart to West End hits, including concerto highlights for trumpet, flute and violin, alongside Grade 8 solos for soprano, cello, alto sax, clarinet and piano. One of the College’s Sixth Form students even treated the audience to the world premiere of his own piano composition, ‘The Moonlit Ocean’, which he has entered into this year’s Midsomerset Music Festival. Following on from this astonishing performance, his copy of the score was then snapped up by an impressed member of the audience.
In a busy term students at the College have already enjoyed masterclasses from two international soloists and they continue their packed musical schedule with their forthcoming production of Gershwin’s ‘Crazy for You’, being performed from 11-15 March 2014 at the College’s onsite Theatre.
