Parents And Students Praise New LVS Ascot Sixth Form Centre

Less than three weeks after announcing the school’s highest ever A-Level pass rate of 99.5%, LVS Ascot unveiled a stunning new-look sixth form centre on Tuesday 5th September. The development, designed to inspire A-Level students to exceed their expectations, drew rave reviews from both parents and students keen to make use of the exciting development.

A crowd of over 100 parents and both prospective and current sixth formers were present at the independent all-ability school’s official opening of the centre, and were impressed with the results. A modern, open plan feel with designated study rooms, social space and cabin-style meeting areas are combined with glass-fronted classrooms containing interactive smart boards to aid learning, and university-style seating to help students prepare for the transition to higher education.

Parent Clare Parry-Jones, whose son Bryn received excellent GCSE results at LVS Ascot last month and will return to the new sixth form centre to sit A-Levels, said: “We are delighted it is finished, and it looks a wonderful learning environment. The open classrooms and spaces, the teaching environment that looks like it will do at university – it is going to give the students here a real opportunity”.

Former student Tom Cunniffe, who left LVS Ascot and has just received a first class honours degree from Swansea University, said: “It is really different, and very nice now it is all opened up – it is a really inclusive space for students”.

Principal Christine Cunniffe said: “LVS Ascot believes it is important to invest in the futures of our students. We are proud to open the new sixth form centre, from a vision to provide them with a more grown up and corporate environment. It has a real university style feel, which is important as we believe in equipping students for their futures beyond the school. This will help them with that transition and build on our excellent A-Level results last month”.

The development is part of a range of investment that the all-through school has made in facilities this summer, including the complete refurbishment of the junior boarding house.
