Outstanding Achievements Recognised At LVS Ascot President’s Day

Over 1,500 parents, students and teachers joined together at LVS Ascot on Thursday 6th July to honour the outstanding achievements of students throughout the past academic year. The ceremony took place in the independent all-ability school’s hall where trophies were presented to the highest achievers, and the celebrations continued with a barbecue and live music on an outdoor stage.
The ceremony brought to a close a superb year at the all-through school which began with LVS Ascot celebrating its highest ever A-level pass rate of 99.2% and went on to produce a cutting-edge promenade production of Alice In Wonderland, achieve national success in sport and excel in regional STEM competitions. The school’s houses also raised over £12,000 in the year for charities from the NSPCC to Help For Heroes and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Rousing and emotional speeches were delivered by outgoing Head Boy Alistair Drape and Head Girl Jessica Tipping, with the new Head Boy and Head Girl announced for 2017-18, Oliver Bonnett and Ella Desmond respectively. There were also subject prizes awarded for each year group along with coveted academic, drama, music and physical education scholarships and bursaries.
Principal Christine Cunniffe said: “It has been another incredible year at LVS Ascot and today has reinforced what a special place this is where every student can flourish as an individual. The level of opportunities available for students to excel are a credit to the approach and dedication of the staff, and our students deserve recognition for taking those opportunities to further their development and achieve great things”.
The LVS Ascot Junior School marked the end of its year with their equivalent, Celebration Day, on Wednesday 5th July. A formal prize giving ceremony saw awards given out in each year for achievement and progress, along with the much anticipated announcement of who would be Head Boy and Head Girl which went to Miles Denning and Abigail Gartside respectively. Abigail’s mother Michaela said: “It has been a fantastic day as it is really enjoyable to celebrate the junior school’s success. Abigail has been here since Reception and loves it here, as she has had so many opportunities to get involved in school life both academically and in extra-curricular activities”.
