7 pupils from Bellan House and Oswestry School senior school took part in 10 classes at the Shropshire Festival of Verse and Prose on Saturday 7 October.

Held at Moreton Hall the annual Festival gives young people the opportunity to speak to an audience and grow in confidence.  It attracts students from across the region who compete in a range of classes including verse speaking, prose reading, famous speeches, public speaking, solo drama pieces, duo verse speaking, duologues and readings from the Book of Common Prayer.

Gabriella Owen-Langford, a Year 5 pupil, came third in her verse speaking class while 2nd Form pupils (Year 8), Abigail Ellis-Lowe and Lucy McGuire, came third with their duologue.  Lucy Garton, Year 6, received a First in sight reading.

Lucy received a First in both sight reading and topics, and finished third in the solo drama and verse reading classes.  Abigail also received a First in public speaking along with second in both prose reading and topics.
