New Charter to create Safe School Environment – Wellington School
09 Jul 2020
Wellington School is placing the safety of its pupils and staff at the forefront of planning to open the School to more students in the future by adopting a new initiative by the Boarding Schools Association.
The Covid-Safe Charter is a commitment to go beyond statutory requirements as a way of ensuring that boarding houses and the wider school site are safe for pupils to return to school.
The School has already welcomed back children in the Prep School in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 with a 95% take up from families and from 15th June will provide opportunities for Year 10 and Year 12 students to take part in some face to face learning and activities on site.
Last week the School hosted a live information forum, providing an opportunity to learn more about the arrangements the School is putting into place to ensure a safe return to School for all its students in the future.
The Charter covers pre-arrival protocols for boarding students, transport arrangements, deep cleaning regimes, social distancing and testing policies amongst other measures.
Headmaster Eugene du Toit commented, ‘We are delighted to see children back in school, having fun and learning together. We have taken all necessary steps and precautions to provide the safest possible school environment for our pupils, and we look forward to welcoming more children back to school in September.’
