Musical Soloists Evening
28 Jan 2016
BG’s first Soloist Evening took place in the Pugin Library on Tuesday 26 January, with 36 performers dazzling the audience with a display of musical skill. Pupils earned their place in this concert by auditioning in class; this motivated many to practise over the Christmas holidays and through the first quarter of this term, and the standard of performances reflected this hard work.
It was wonderful to have some drummers join the usual instruments, adding a bit of Rock to the wide variety of styles on show. There were almost too many highlights to mention, but it would be wrong not to touch on Millie Whittaker’s performance of her own composition, which drew inspiration from Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata and the theme from James Bond.
Congratulations to all the performers, who have every right to feel proud of their achievements, and thanks to Miss Sellar for helping to accompany pupils.
We look forward to welcoming parents and friends to our next event, the Informal Concert, on Tuesday 1 March.
