FUN-draising for Movember Charity at Slindon College
07 Dec 2020
To raise fund for Movember Charity, Slindon College encouraged its pupils to create and wear a fake beard for the day. Teachers also got involved: Head of Cowdray House and PE Teacher, Mr Belcher had his own beard sprayed pink! You can watch the video on Slindon College’s Facebook page.
The College raised over £200 for the charity which focusses on male health, including mental health and suicide prevention.
A massive thanks to all those that took part and gave generously.
Each House at Slindon College chooses a local charity to support each academic year. We are proud of the work the boys do for their chosen charities and through their environmental work within the college community. The College encourages and supports pupils and staff to get involved in all kinds of voluntary and charity activities. The message that pupils have a moral obligation to help others less fortunate than themselves is reinforced within the framework of our termly assembly programme. Find out more about the charities that the College supports.
Slindon College supports pupils’ mental health through a number of pastoral initiatives like our ‘Gratitude Journaling‘, ‘Monday Meditation‘ time and our ‘Time to Talk’ programme. College life is about participation and is underpinned by our five core values:
Community A group of people existing in the same place or having things in common and working together.
Integrity The quality of being honest and having strong principles.
Empathy The ability to understand and share feelings of another person.
Perseverance Persistence in doing something despite difficulty in achieving success.
Self-worth To value yourself, a feeling that you are a good person who deserves to be treated with respect.
