Remove pupil, Hedy, has been crowned Oswestry Youth Music Festival’s ‘Young Performer of the Year 2020’.
Pianist Hedy competed against hundreds of performers including fellow Moreton student Kate having both won their 12 and under solo class earlier in the competition. Hedy’s performances were executed in a highly professional and committed way and gained her the prestigious, coveted title in the final round.
During the five-day music festival, Moreton musicians gained a record number of first places with some hugely impressive and breath-taking performances.
Moreton ‘swept the board’ in the Musical Theatre classes with Kate, Emma and Megan gaining top spot in their respective age categories.
Cici, Hedy, Kate and Tami all came first in their respective solo piano, brass and vocal classes.
Alongside studying for their GCSEs, Tara and Eloise, and Catherine and Jamie won the 18 and under instrumental and piano duet classes convincingly.
Helen Rayner, Director of Music at Moreton Hall, commented: “It was an absolute privilege to watch our students’ performances over the course of the Festival – every one of them performed with poise, professionalism and commitment.”
Helen continued: “Moreton Hall musicians wish to thank the organisers and Oswestry Town Council who continue to fully support this wonderful competition.
“We are extremely fortunate to have such a professionally run Music Festival in our local community and we wish to encourage all local musicians to take part in this very special annual event.”
