Millfield Prep’s Computing and ICT Department welcomed Year 6 pupils from two local primary schools to learn basic coding and programming techniques.

Twenty-six pupils from High Ham and Kingsbury Episcopi Primary Schools took part in the Challenge day, working in groups to build and format programmes using some of the most advanced technology currently on the market.

The activities included using iPads and Bluetooth technology to programme robots to move through mazes and in specific formations, as well as using advanced Scratch technology to design small computer games.

High Ham Deputy, Mrs Wills said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to work with a wide variety of high quality IT equipment with specialist staff. It was also great to work with children from other schools and give them the opportunity to gain confidence in a different environment.”
