On Saturday 14 May, equestrians gathered at Millfield Prep for the annual Millfield BE Horse Trials, the school’s second British Eventing competition. The event was full, with over 600 entries. This year, the course which was designed and built by Adrian Ditcham, included a jump in the 100 section on top of the replica Glastonbury Tor.

No fewer than 18 Millfield pupils of all ages, six Old Millfieldian’s and some Millfield Equestrian staff, competed in all classes. Olympian Vittoria Panizzon competed alongside novices and other young competitors, showing the breadth of the event here at Millfield.

It was thrilling when Talullah Bartlett, a former Prep pupil and current Year 10 at Millfield, won the BE100 Open section for the second year running.

Robert Mackenzie, the British Eventing Steward in attendance, said: “Events like the Millfield Horse Trials are fantastic as youngsters are often competing against Olympic medallists which is not only aspirational but shows the equal footing. It is a great event where men, women, boys and girls all compete on an equal basis.”
