Millfield hosts Somerset Anne Frank Awards

17 Aug 2016

Millfield hosted this year’s awards for 150 guests from across the county.

Our junior charity club Leo’s was nominated and highly commended for their work in the local community.

Leo’s was launched in 2015 and is made up of 30 Millfield pupils who raise money for local causes, conducting voluntary work and organising events in the local community. Money raised this year will be shared between three chosen charities: Avalon School hydrotherapy pool, Cancer Research and Help for Heroes.

The Somerset Anne Frank Awards were launched six years ago to honour the great personal and community-based achievements of young people in Somerset. Inspired by the life and diary of Anne Frank herself, the awards celebrate religious and racial tolerance and democracy.

Eight Millfield pupils have been invited to attend a trip to the National Holocaust Centre and also a trip to Amsterdam in the summer to visit the Anne Frank House.
