Millfield – Arabian Nights celebrates the power of storytelling
11 Mar 2016
Year 11 and Sixth Form pupils performed their Senior play, Arabian Nights, to a packed Meyer Theatre of parents, fellow pupils and guests. Through the use of puppetry, singing, dancing and playful acting, the cast contributed many of their own ideas to this interpretation of the well-known collection of stories.
The Arabian Nights stories are some of the world’s great treasures. They have existed for thousands of years, consisting of tales told in Persia, Arabia, India and Asia. There are versions of these stories in many languages and they all convey the great sense of adventure, truth, fantastic imagination, justice, and faith.
Millfield’s interpretation included six different ‘stories’ including ‘The Story of Ali Baba’, ‘The Story of the Envious Sisters’ and ‘The Story of Es-Sindibad the Sailor’.
