Margaret Caven House Music Competition
26 Mar 2013
The Annual Margaret Caven House Music Competition was held recently at Abbey Gate College and was adjudicated by Mr Chris Pilsbury.
There were 65 individual competitors in addition to ensemble performances and five choirs and they performed throughout the day in order to determine the winners of the Inter-House competition and for the honour of performing in front of a packed audience of pupils and parents at the evening ‘Finals Event’.
The standard this year was very high particularly from the younger entrants, which is very encouraging for the future, and Felix Gideonse in Year 7 was the winner of the organ class.
The winner of the choirs section was ‘Young Voices’ and the best performance of the day was awarded to Sixth Former Nicholas Bradley for his performance of ‘Contest’ by Paul Harvey. Other winners on the evening included Joe Kelly, Naomi Craig and Kristian Bennett.
The winning House was Marmion and House Captain Tim Laing was present to collect the shield on behalf of his house.
