Maple Walk School – National Gallery Success

12 Mar 2018

Our spectacular animation club have done it again!….their latest film will be shown later this year at the National Gallery.

The film, entitled Penelope, was inspired by Pintoricchio’s Penelope with the Suitors (about 1509) and will feature in the Gallery’s ‘Take One Picture’ exhibition from 9 May to 12 August.

The project began as part of Maple Walk’s Art Week, where pupils from across the school worked on a range of pieces inspired by Pintoricchio’s work.

The Animation club then used some of those pieces in their film, which was written by a Maple Walk pupil.

Each year the National Gallery invites primary schools nationwide to focus on one of its paintings and respond creatively to its themes and subject matter, historical context, or composition.
