Magical Moments at Monkton Pre-Prep

28 Apr 2016

What a wonderful start to the Summer for children at the Pre-Prep. The children returned to discover that their role-play area had turned into “Castle Glen” It didn’t take the children long to imagine themselves as knights, princes, dragons and princesses. On Thursday there were more surprises as they experienced a “stunning start” to their theme “Into the woods”.  All parents and children were invited to a magical fun morning in the chapel dressed as a fairy tale character! There were so many wonderful costumes including Jack, from ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to Dorothy from ‘The Wizard of Oz.’

The children joined in creating crowns, making magic potions and building castles before discovering a unusually large key in the fairy dust! We found the key unlocked the chapel door to reveal seven real life Disney Princesses and the boy Pinocchio! These wonderful characters had the children spellbound as they assisted them in their activities, sang and danced  with them to classics like “Let it go” We were very sad to say goodbye to them, but just as we thought the magic morning had come to an end, Mrs Hodges announced we had another special visitor waiting outside to see us. A beautiful miniature pony called Jacob who was waiting for a mid morning snack! Jo his owner showed us how to keep our hand straight as he feasted on carrots from the brave few. Some children had obviously done this before! Such excitement…..and all before snack-time!

Thank you to all the parents who came and for all their wonderful creative costumes, special thanks to Mrs Rutland for donating her prize from Scarlet Princess Parties and to Mrs Wheeler for contacting Tunley Equestrian Centre who supplied Jacob the pony. Thanks also to the super nursery team who also dressed up and helped to support the children in such a caring way.
