The U13 and U15 girls at Lord Wandsworth College swept the board as the county finals of the Lady Taverners indoor cricket competition came to a climax at The Ageas Bowl last week.
The U13 side remained unbeaten in a closely fought round robin competition with Priestlands, John Hanson and Testbourne schools.
The U15 final came down to a showdown between Eggars and Lord Wandsworth, who duly completed the double and progress to the regional finals in Guildford with their younger counterparts next month.
Soma Singh, director of sport at Lord Wandsworth College, which was recently voted in the top 100 Cricket Schools in the UK by the Cricketer magazine, said “We’re incredibly proud of them. This is a fitting start to the next stage of girls’ cricket at LWC, with a specific focus on the coaching and playing of the game for all girls at the College from this summer onwards.”
The teams are:
U13 – Libby Bellmore, Finty Trussler, Lucy Stretton, Lucy Hall, Harriet High, Frida Kenning, Penny Powell, Mia Wagenstein and Nina Coetzer
U15 – Allie Cooper, Olivia Anderson, Zoe Baker, Ruby Wollen, Jade Hine, Emily Harris, Alice Sullivan and Alisha Thomas
