The Lord Wandsworth College community has broken the Guinness World Record for the most people taking part in a game of touch rugby.

523 people took part in the game, held at Lord Wandsworth College in Long Sutton, on Saturday 24th June and Sunday 25th June, beating the current record of 442 which was set by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Participants included current and former pupils, staff, parents, local villagers, Alton and Farnham rugby clubs and pupils from Long Sutton primary school, Danes Hill and St Neot’s prep schools.   John Brake, the professional England rugby sevens player, came along to take part and the London Irish Academy were there too, along with their mascot.

The community raised over £4000 for Cancer Research and mental health charity, Mind.

Jonathan Pitt, houseparent at Lord Wandsworth College, said “I’m so proud of all those people that helped make this happen – we couldn’t have done it without the whole community getting involved and we’re over the moon to have raised so much money for charity.”
