Local School putting Herefordshire on the World Stage

It has been a busier start than usual for one Herefordshire School as it continues to grow its global reach and open its doors to pupils and staff from across the world.

The start of the Autumn Term witnessed Hereford Cathedral School hosting and educating five visiting pupils from St Catherine’s School, Sydney, in Australia and ten pupils from Phillips Exeter Academy in America. This is in addition to the seven students from China who are all studying for A Level at the School. Later this term 21 pupils from a secondary school in Fledberg, Germany, will spend a number of days with pupils from Hereford Cathedral School. Add to this the recent trip to Hay Segovia, planned foreign exchanges (France and Spain) and the annual visit to Hereford Cathedral School’s link school in Nepal and it is not hard to see why pupils at Hereford Cathedral School are becoming increasingly familiar with cultural diversity.

Paul Smith, Headmaster of Hereford Cathedral School said,
“By the time the majority of our pupils reach the age of 25 they are as likely to be dealing with colleagues from Europe, America or the Far East as they are from Worcestershire or Gloucestershire. We live in an increasingly globalised society and it is incumbent upon those educating the pupils of today that they prepare them for the global economy of tomorrow. By providing our pupils with opportunities to meet and study alongside international students we are helping to develop well-rounded people that are ready for tomorrow’s world. ”
