From Croatia to a Study Tour at Kings Oxford
06 Mar 2019
Kings Oxford recently welcomed a group of 11 students and 2 teachers from Katarina Zrinski school in Croatia to the city centre St Michael’s campus for a two-week Study Tour.
In the mornings, the students joined the general English classes, giving them a chance to mix with other Kings students from many different countries. They covered a range of English grammar and essential language skills in classes that were suitable for their various English levels.
For the afternoon sessions, the students split into small groups to work on a number of special projects. The projects they chose were Education in Oxford, Mobile Phones in the UK, Music in the UK, and Football in the UK. The groups interviewed local people and did online research on their subjects, before presenting their findings to a panel of teachers and classmates at the end of the trip.
The afternoons also included a tour of central Oxford, as well as guided trips to both the Ashmolean Museum and an Oxford University College. These trips were enjoyed by all and gave the students a more rounded experience and a chance to put their language skills into practice in the real world.
At the weekend, the students braved the cold weather and wrapped up warm for a trip to London, where they took in some famous sights such as Buckingham Palace and the London Eye. They also visited nearby Bicester Shopping village for some ‘retail therapy’, as well as Oxford University’s historic Balliol College.
The week culminated in the presentation of the certificates and reports, and a farewell to the group from Kings Oxford staff.
We hope you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back next year!
