Jack and Jill School – Fitness Week in Year 2

One of the themed weeks for Year 2 this term is Fitness week. The girls have taken part in many health related activities such as finding out about healthy meals, the importance of washing your hands regularly and improving measuring skills through sports activities in the playground.
We measured the longest throw in the class and found out how many star jumps we can do in one minute. The girls have inspired each other by sharing the wide range of activities they enjoy from hula hooping to tennis! Wednesday morning was the much anticipated visit to The Little Gym in Hampton Hill. The girls took part in a healthy quiz and set goals to improve their own fitness levels. They also spent time in the gym learning how to do somersaults, balance on beams and swing on the bars. They all enjoyed a healthy snack and had plenty of water after their hard work in the gym.
Fitness week has been a great success and we hope the girls will carry on eating healthily and exercising regularly- they intend to encourage their families to take up some new sports too!
