Homefield Celebrates Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday in Style

27 Sep 2016

This week marked what would have been the 100th birthday of one of Britain’s most loved authors, Roald Dahl, as boys at Homefield gave the icon the sort of celebration it deserved.
With pupils of all ages adorning some wonderfully themed badges, the day started as it promised to go on with some dramatic ‘Roald Dahl’ readings in assembly.
There was a multitude of educationally themed activities throughout the day, with storytelling and numeracy activities in the EYU, audio books, science experiments and even Roald Dahl top trumps in Maths. The Juniors continues with more puzzles, games and readings whilst the Seniors composed some revolting rhymes, crosswords and descriptive writing pieces.
The activities were complemented by music inspired by Dahl. Well done to everyone who took part, this truly was a fitting tribute to one of the nation’s treasures.
