26 Feb 2014
Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, visited Malvern College last Friday to speak to the College’s Weatherill Society.
She discussed her personal reasons for being involved in Conservative party politics following on from her successful career in the City and described her fight for a seat in the general election of 2010. She spoke about her role as an MP and all that it entails as well as her particular interests in her parliamentary work, ranging from local housing issues to trade with Russia and also falling turnouts in UK local, European and National elections. Pupils and staff then had the opportunity to ask questions on issues such as the number of women in parliament, proportional representation, Scotland and the United Kingdom, Europe, and the coalition government.
