Freemen’s Student awarded prestigious Arkwright Scholarship

Arkwright Scholarships are highly competitive and regarded as the most prestigious scholarship scheme of its type in the UK. The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme identifies, inspires and nurtures future leaders in Engineering, Computing and Technical Design. The Scholarships are awarded through a rigorous selection process, to high-calibre students who apply when in Year 11 in England and Wales.

Every Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is sponsored by an industrial company, university, charitable trust, trade association, professional institution, armed service, worshipful company, industry regulator or personal donor.

The process starts with an online application, followed by a two-hour aptitude exam and then an interview. If students meet the Arkwright standard they are then matched to a sponsoring organisation and receive the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.

Georgie sat the external exam and submitted a personal statement before successfully receiving the scholarship. This scholarship will give Georgie unique opportunities, contacts and mentoring and be a fantastic addition to her university applications. Georgie joins U6 student Timur in the programme, who is also an Arkwright scholar.
