Fivers Flourish at Bromsgrove School

19 May 2014

Bromsgrove School’s  Flourishing Fiver team organised a series of fundraising events to raise money for Primrose Hospice.  they kicked off their efforts at the Worcester Cathedral trade fair selling Christmas seasonal products, including cinnamon and gingerbread decorations and raised over £180 which was a good start due to the limited budget and resources  they  started with. Valentines Day gave them plenty of ideas to raise more money – the team organised a movie night, encouraging students to support Primrose Hospice by attending and buying snacks whilst enjoying the excitement of Valentine’s Day. This raised just under £100. The team also made bears holding hearts which could have messages put in them, selling to students in the Senior and Prep Schools for Valentine’s day and in Prep School pupils bought the bears with Mothers’ Day messages, raising a total of just under £200.  The final big fundraising event was an Own Clothes Day when students donated £1 or more to Primrose Hospice. This managed to raise an amazing £1057.40. The team of pupils had set themselves a challenge of raising £1500 and the School is extremely proud that they managed to achieve this plus a bit more with a grand total of £1563.62.

The team were delighted that a representative from the Primrose Hospice could come to School to collect the funds and thank the team for all their efforts.  It is fair to say they had a great time raising this money. Pupil Natalia Georgieva said, “We started with small projects but big ambitions, step by step we became more creative, we worked as a team and we succeeded. We have never thought that we would raise so much money, but the fact that all of our hard work paid off and we raised money to help others can only make us proud”
